Ștefana Maria Dima, a senior research scientist at the Institute for Advanced Environmental Research (ICAM) of the West University of Timișoara and a doctoral advisor, is one of the recipients of the 2025 UVT Awards Gala, having been honored with the “Gabriela Colțescu” Award for Social and Economic Sciences.

In a recent interview, the researcher discusses our responsibility toward the planet’s limited resources and the need for a shift in mindset: if we wish to leave something for future generations, we must become more conscious and less selfish in relation to the environment and the economy.

Her work in recent years reflects a consistent commitment to both research and the training of new generations of specialists. Ștefana Maria Dima has published articles in prestigious international journals, many of which are ranked in the top quartile, and has actively contributed to raising the university’s academic profile. At the same time, she has been involved in mentoring, training, and coordinating young researchers.

Her scientific interests span current and interdisciplinary fields, such as sustainable economic development, corporate reporting, finance, climate change, and the circular economy. This latter area is of particular concern, reflecting the need to rethink how we use resources and manage our impact on the environment.

Discover in the interview how research, education, and individual responsibility can contribute to a more sustainable future and why change begins with each of us.
