About the guest:
Andrei Cornea is a prominent figure in the Romanian cultural landscape. A member of the Romanian Writers’ Union and several prestigious academic societies, he has been noted since the 1970s for his first-ever translation of Plato’s dialogue “The Republic” into Romanian.
A prolific author, Andrei Cornea has published numerous reference books, including:
* The Khazar Tournament. Against Postmodern Relativism (Nemira, 1997; reprinted by Polirom, 2003; Humanitas, 2024);
* Miracolul. Despre neverosimila făptură a libertății (Humanitas, 2014);
* The Amazing History of Sabbatai Mesiah (Humanitas, 2015).
He translated fundamental works of ancient philosophy in their entirety, including:
* Plato. Works (complete edition, Ed. Humanitas);
* Plotinus. Works (Ed. Humanitas, 2003-2009);
* Epicurus and Ancient Epicureanism (2016).
His active presence in national and international media (Radio Free Europe, BBC, Radio Romania Cultural) and articles published in magazines such as 22, Dilema, and Observator cultural confirm his passion for dialogue and debate.
The event will also feature the launch of Andrei Cornea’s latest translated volume: Plato, Works, IV (Humanitas Publishing House, 2024).
